Description
The Trane VAL12849 Chatleff Thermal Expansion Valve or Trane TXV is a critical part of the Trane commercial industrial refrigeration system being intended for 3-ton refrigeration capacity units. It regulates the pressure of the refrigerant and effectively controls the flow of the refrigerant. If you like you can think about it as a sluice-gate which regulates the flow of water. The TXV controls the amount of refrigerant leaving the evaporator coil and measures its temperature. If the temperature increases beyond that, the indication that there may be little refrigerant in the system, the TXV opens to allow more of the liquid to flow. On the other hand, if the temperature becomes low, indicating a possibility of flooding, the TXV hampers the flow.
